About Mexico Melate
Mexico has a long history of bingo-style and other lottery games.
Mexico Melate was introduced in the 1980s by the government-run Pronósticos para la Asistencia Pública, also known simply as Pronósticos.
The first draw was held in August 1984. Since then, the game has undergone a few format changes, though it largely remains the same.
One of the most significant changes to the game throughout the years is the number pool. The original game allowed players to choose from numbers 1 through 39. Today, the ball pool goes up to 56.
Other significant changes include the additional of the bonus games Revancha and Revanchita. These draws were added in August 1997 and August 2010, respectively.
Mexico Melate Draws
Mexico Melate is a bi-weekly draw. Draws take place every Wednesday and Sunday at 9:15 p.m. CST.
A total of seven balls are drawn-six regular numbers and one bonus number.
Players have up until one hour before the draw time to purchase tickets. This may vary if a player uses a third-party lottery website.
The draws are held in Mexico City.
How to Play Mexico Melate
To play Mexico Melate, players must choose six main numbers from a pool of 1 through 56.
To win the jackpot they must match all six numbers.
A seventh bonus number is also selected. This number only impacts lower-tier prizes.
Players can also add two bonus games to their ticket. These games are called Revancha (Rematch) and Revanchita (Rematch 2).
Revancha has an additional five prize tiers up for grabs, with the top prize requiring a match of six numbers.
Revanchita only has one prize, which also requires matching six numbers.
A standard Melate ticket costs MXN 15.
Revancha costs an additional MXN 10 and Revanchita costs an additional MXN 5.
If a player chooses to play all three games, the ticket price is MXN 30.
However, if players buy lottery tickets online from a third-party website, the ticket cost may differ.
Mexico Melate Prizes and Odds
Mexico Melate has a total of nine prize tiers.
Players must match a minimum of two numbers to win a prize. The jackpot is awarded to players who match all six regular numbers.
The additional ball impacts the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth prize tiers.
Mexico Melate has a guaranteed jackpot of MXN 30 million.
If the jackpot isn’t won, it rolls over to the next draw. There is no rollover or jackpot cap, which means the top prize can grow to some pretty impressive numbers.
