Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 has been one of the most popular games in the Philippines for more than 20 years.
It has an easy format, cheap tickets and three chances a week to win. No wonder it’s a favourite!
In this guide, we’ll explain how and why you should buy Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 tickets online.
About Philippines Super Lotto 6/49
Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 was launched on July 16, 2000, by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). The PSCO is the government-run organisation responsible for lotteries within the country.
Unlike many popular games that have been around for decades, Super Lotto 6/49 still follows its original format.
However, it did have only one weekly draw at first, and tickets were initially PHP 20.
Like all PCSO games, players must be 18 years old to buy tickets for the draw.
Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 Draws
Super Lotto 6/49 has three draws every week, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 9 p.m. PHST.
A total of six balls are randomly selected during the draw.
The draws are broadcast live on TV channel PTV. Results are posted on all PCSO websites and social media accounts right after the draw.
As with all PCSO games, Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 is suspended during major holidays.
How to Play Philippines Super Lotto 6/49
Philippines Super Lotto 6/49, as one might guess, uses the popular 6/49 format. That means that players choose six numbers from a pool of 1 through 49.
To win the jackpot, a player must match all six numbers.
With this game, players can either select their own numbers manually or choose the Lucky Pick option.
PCSO games also offer System Play. This feature allows players to purchase more than six numbers, which are then put into separate combinations on the ticket.
There are seven system bets to choose from: System 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and System 5-Roll.
Systems 7 through 12 enable players to choose the amount of numbers specified in the name. For example, System 8 allows eight numbers and System 9 allows nine numbers and so on.
A different amount of combinations is allowed with each system. This starts with seven combos in System 7 and reaches 925 combos with System 12.
System 5-Roll works a bit differently. That feature allows players to choose five numbers, which are then combined with the remaining numbers from the pool. This produces a total of 44 combinations.
Tickets for Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 cost PHP 24 per combination.
While this is a great price compared to many other international lotteries, it also means System Play tickets can get pretty expensive pretty quickly.
Players who buy lottery tickets online from third-party websites may have to pay additional fees.
Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 Prizes and Odds
There are a total of four prize tiers that winners are eligible for when playing Super Lotto 6/49.
As previously mentioned, players must match all six numbers to win the jackpot. To win any prize, there must be a minimum of three matches.
The minimum jackpot prize starts at PHP 15.8 million.
The jackpot rolls over each week that there is no winner. As there are no jackpot or rollover caps, the possibilities are limitless.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816, which is right in the middle for games offered by PCSO.
While these odds are decent, some popular international games with similar odds do have better jackpots.
For example, Canada Lotto 6/49 has identical jackpot odds yet has a starting jackpot of CA $5 million. That’s more than 10 times the starting jackpot offered in Philippines Super Lotto 6/49.
However, Philippines Super Lotto 6/49 tickets are a fraction of the cost of Canada Lotto 6/49 tickets.
The full prize and odds breakdown is as follows:
Numbers Matched | Odds of Winning | Base Winnings |
6 | 1 in 13,983,816 | Jackpot |
5 | 1 in 54,201 | PHP 50,000 |
4 | 1 in 1,032 | PHP 1,200 |
3 | 1 in 57 | PHP 50 |
